New Year’s Resolutions for Building Your Business

By Amy Hancock

The New Year presents a fresh start! Set some goals for your small business for 2017. Here are some ideas:

Make a serious plan to expand your business.

Everyone wants to grow their business, but sometimes small business owners get so caught up in the day-to-day operations that they let their business-building goals fall to the wayside. Get serious about expanding your business in 2017. Make a plan of action and schedule the time to make it happen.

Take advantage of networking opportunities.

Word-of-mouth is the most effective marketing tool there is. Meeting new people, becoming part of a business community and building relationships is the best way to utilize that word-of-mouth magic. Make 2017 the year you join a small business group, attend networking events and volunteer in the community.

Update your website.

Your website is your new store front and the first place your potential customers will go to learn more about your business. Old websites with out-dated information are a major turn off. Turn online leads to conversions and invest the time and money on a website upgrade.

Invest more time and money in marketing.

When times are lean or things seem to get too busy, marketing is usually the first expense that gets cut or the first activity that gets put on the back-burner. If you want to catch a big fish you’re going to have to use the right bait. Change your mindset and make marketing a priority in 2017.

Moving forward locally
